Dependence is shown here not as weakness, but as the fragile thread that binds us to life.

It reminds us that we lean on people and things, yet sometimes that leaning becomes a quiet prison.

Love, when unequal, can turn into chains, leaving one heart bound while the other walks free.

The metaphor of thorns captures the pain of release slow, deliberate, one wound at a time.

Breaking dependence is not sudden liberation but a ritual of patience, of enduring small hurts.

The text insists that passion must breathe without possession, that love must not suffocate.

It asks us to name the roots of our need, to face the source with honesty.

Wisdom becomes a lantern here, guiding us through the dark corridors of attachment.

Peace of mind is not found in clinging, but in reclaiming the breath that is ours alone.

Ultimately, the message is tender: to love deeply, but never lose yourself in dependence.

Shalini, this felt like sitting with someone who’s trying to name something tender without hurting themselves in the process. I liked how you approached dependence not as a flaw, but as something that grows quietly when we’re not watching — and how you made space for both the love in it and the danger.

The “one thorn at a time” image stayed with me. It captures so well how slow and deliberate healing actually is, especially when you’re trying to unhook yourself from someone you leaned on too heavily. It’s not dramatic. It’s patient. It hurts, but it frees.

Your piece reads like a gentle reminder that love doesn’t have to mean losing your balance — and I appreciated the calm clarity in the way you put it across.

Thank you for sharing this reflection. It lands softly.

Thank you for appreciating my words, my attempt to try to heal from it. It’s hard but not impossible. Like everything else in life, it’s a learning process, one that invariably comes if you approach life in the spirit of submission to the eternal!
