Every time you rise 
You build your muscles 
Of confidence
courage
tenacity
resilience 

You become like rubber 
That bounces back 

Cast iron 
that can’t be bent into shape 
unless it’s completely melted

Elastic 
that can be stretched forever 
without breaking 

And a shield 
that will stare you in the face
Ready to protect its holder
from getting pierced 

Your attitude can make you
or break you
But the best thing is
You can choose which one 
You want to use 
Your attitude matters

When you rise to an occasion 
A challenge 
that you haven’t dealt with
It makes you younger 
Stronger 
Tender 
You live longer

But when you resist the challenge 
When you choose to stay as you are
You lose your elasticity 
You become rigid
Rigidity can easily be broken 
It’s like breaking an ankle 
You can’t move anymore 
Without assistance 

And that means 
You grow older
Faster
You become a loser 
And stay stagnant 
and rot 
Where you are at

When you choose to rise to a challenge 
You choose to live and breathe and glow
When you choose otherwise 
You choose death and decay and erode
Your attitude matters
