Why Are You An Introvert?
I learnt something new today about myself and this was the product of what I learnt and what I came across which inspired me to write this poem.
Have you analyzed it? Why are you an introvert? Do you fall into that category really only because you were born with that temperament? Have you sat down to think about it? Why am I who I am? Perhaps you grew up in a large family where nobody noticed you Or maybe you went to a school system with something that isolated you— your looks your clumsiness your inability to speak their local language Or it might simply be that you were not interested in following the regular games that children there played Perhaps you didn’t grow up with children of similar age So getting accepted in a group of kids seemed an enormous task at first There might have been a ton of reasons and then some more If you sat down to analyze them you’d find the source— the root cause for how you think about yourself But are you truly introverted simply because you don’t like to mingle with people? Or is it because of failures that happened when you were really young? Have you been around any group of people who have accepted you? Have you lit up when you have been in those groups? Have you enjoyed going on and on when you get to meet them? Perhaps even stealing the show in some of them? Then know that you are not introverted It’s probably just that you have not met the right people Or maybe it’s just your fear that keeps you estranged in new environments If you truly showed curiosity in knowing people If you were truly interested in making new friends Then they will come to you by the dozens It’s just that you haven’t opened up yourself yet And that day will come It’s just about when you will realize your true self When all that binds you and keeps your mind imprisoned is released to the atmosphere and your mind is set free That day you will realize your true self That day you will also make new friends And that day you will live life as you were meant to live Until then you will keep yourself good company with other things— Books, video games, art— anything that you have found comfort in Do you still think you are an introvert?

Hi Shalini, I'm glad you asked this question because it may help someone who has misled themselves about who and what they are. And another thing to consider is whether someone simply chooses their own company without thinking about it, without realizing this is what they're doing, because they enjoy solitary activities. But this is less common. Your poem is, as always, excellent and I very much enjoyed reading and commenting. I look forward to seeing you here tomorrow!
Books as the stand in company made me tilt my head a bit~ Funny how a stack of pages keeps getting blamed for people just not being met right~
