This landed with clarity and care. The idea of a true level playing field is one we all claim to want, until it threatens the ground weโre standing on. Youโve named that discomfort without condemnation, and thatโs where the real invitation begins. Thank you for holding this mirror up gently, but firmly.
So you chose to be happy despite the seemingly level playing field of your life. Thatโs exactly what I was talking about. How it all seems fair and level from the onlookers point of view but only those who know them inside out like the back of their hand know whatโs in there where and how to use that to their advantage and in this economy, in this current climate, in this culture, they have learned to exploit that to their advantage! Thatโs all I am saying!
You talk about life as a mathematician. Life is full of the unexpected, sudden occasions, and is not subordinate to arithmetic. I didn't choose to be happy, "despite the seemingly level playing field of my life." What does it mean? Have you read my memoir?
I havenโt Larisa. I chose to reply to you based on what input you provided me here. And you said โdespiteโ. I didnโt say that.
My poem was merely to highlight how seemingly level playfields are not really level at all because only the ones who made the fields, or the ones who have used it well, know it well enough to maneuver its quirks. There is no arithmetic involved here.
It all appears level at first glance, it even produces nicely groomed gentleman-like people but if you look deeper, you will know that those are just appearances meant to deceive.

Stay entangled, my friend.

Thank you Bathrobe Guy and thank you for the restack
It is an interesting poem, though, having lived my long life, I didn't find any system in the relationships, especially love.
You are among the privileged lot, then!
I don't know, dear. At the end, (I am a very old woman), I may say, not privileged, but happy, despite all my difficulties in life.
