The Giving Tree
She’s here to teach me.
She stands strong amidst trials and tribulations
She allows squirrels to go around her in romance and tension
She holds birds nests at least five of them at the topmost branches
Some of them I suppose the squirrels even use
But she has hollows inside of her
Stories of her own to tell
All the winters she has seen
When everything around her perished but she stood still
She stands tall and bold and void of emotion
She allows squirrels to play around her
She allows creepers to grow and surround her
And looks majestic where she’s at
She’s just a tree in my backyard
But she has been my symbol of strength
She stands tall and strong and she is a structure to behold
She teaches without teaching
She is here for a reason
She gives without asking for anything in return
She is rooted, anchored to the ground with the roots reaching all around far and wide
That makes her strong and majestic
Nothing there to break her anytime soon
She stands tall and bold and structured
She is beauty to behold
My backyard tree is just another tree in this vast and bountiful earth
Yet she is enough for my home enough for my heart enough for me
She is a blessing bestowed just to make me glee
My backyard tree
She’s always teaching me
Be strong and bold and rooted
None can shake you free
My lovely backyard tree
A blessing bestowed upon me!

This is a beautiful piece of writing. I love the symbol of the tree. Something rooted but also living. And loving. Something proliferates but that has parts that have to die away with life’s seasons to bear fruit and provide havens of nests for birds to fly into. 🫶 I love this. It reminds me of my person.
Wonderful, such a great and beautiful piece! I have a tree themed piece coming out soon as well. I also saw another yesterday; is it possible we are all longing for the true spring to arrive?
Looking to reading more of your work!
