Substack Is An Obsession
Like All Obsessions, it’s An Addiction that Takes You Away from What You Really Need
Substack is an obsession It’s an addiction Even though it is not exactly social media Well who are we kidding? It is social media Only Though we want to call it otherwise Yes we get to read a lot Improve our wisdom sometimes But only if we are carefully curated Otherwise it’s also endless scrolling And a plenty waste of time When we can do many other wonderful things With our precious exclusive time Why do we persist on Substack then Because it’s an obsession Yes it allows us to write And gathers likes It is an illusion That tells us we are gonna get rich But are we? Not really is the only truth It is not a sustainable model At least not yet It’s just a gathering device Gathering steel dust in sand Like a magnet Once it’s done collecting It will give us away for good To the giant whale One open mouth And we all go in to die But as of now It’s just a distraction From our current situation Which while not entirely dire Is temporarily keeping us from going insane And hence it is an obsession A mindful distraction That we tell ourselves So that we can call ourselves Not social media users But in truth Substack is also social media Just perhaps One on a higher level Because many of its posts Asks us to be good readers Only the readers Can find Substack interesting enough To persist on it And show up everyday without fail Scroll endlessly Spend hours on it Collecting pearls Among broken pieces of shells Spilled carelessly by the waves All over the empty stretches of sand Yes we are pearl collectors But it would be better If we had a pearl detector Instead of having to go over all the vast stretches of sand With just our eyes sweeping them up To find the exceptional pearls Because while there are many many exceptional pearls Even rubies hidden among the sand It’s going to take a lifetime of sweeping across To find even one worth giving up our entire life And is our life really worth it To be wasting on them Like this We could rather just as easily Go find a worthy book to read And gather what we need Don’t you think? And yet we don’t rally want that Do we? But why? Because we are not really here For just the reading are we? No we are just here Some to make friends Some to find potential mates But many Just to find cheap and free sex online And that’s where we are right now So, sorry Substack And friends But this is the truth That I’ve gathered Sweeping among the vast stretches of sand Over a lifetime is unproductive work Don’t you think? Let’s ruminate And accept the pain And then find something better to do with our time Go Substack Peace ✌🏽
