Why the Indifference towards the Almighty

Indifference 
Why are some people indifferent 
To suffering 
Inhuman treatment 
Unjust punishments 
What makes them do that 
Spiritual apathy 
Could it be?

Because they believe 
They are the chosen ones?
That somehow they are superior 
Than us the common ones 
The regular lot
Who look different from them 
Perhaps inhuman in their eyes?

Or could it be that 
They lack something else
They lack tenderness
They didn’t know 
What love meant 
They didn’t feel love’s gentleness 
Only emptiness 
When they needed to be held

Unloved
Uncared for
Immature 
Lacking spirit 
Brushed aside 
As if they were nothing 
When they needed 
To be gently held

If that is the case
When they are misbehaving 
Like madmen
Pushing and shoving
Torturing in unkindness 
Would they be surprised 
If we treat them with tenderness instead?
