Space Is Important

I got inspired to write this after listening to a class on Adi Sankara’s “Baja Govindam” from my teacher!

If you are already filled with something 
There will be no room for filling up with anything 
Space is important therefore 
If something needs to be filled up with something worth it at all

When we are empty 
Not much stuff inside of us
It was easy to fill up with stuff 
Irrespective of whether it was good or bad 
Ugly or sad 

That’s how we studied math 
Physics chemistry 
history and about land 
But since we learnt what others didn’t 
We assume that we are much 

When in truth 
All that we are is devoid of adding on to
If enough space is filled with empty thoughts 
assumptions or ideas 
Such am I am a PhD 
Or a business man 
Or from where I learned them 

Then without there being enough space in me
Space such as humility 
Eagerness to learn and grow 
Knowledge of my limitations 

Then that space is enough to fill me up 
With good friends 
Good ideas 
And becoming the one that opens up enough some more. 

Remember therefore  
Without empty space 
One closes it all 
So peace is important 
Can’t stress that enough 

Without empty space 
Even Bhagavan can’t fill you up 
How much empty space do you possess? 
Improperly filled space is the cause for all the woes of the earth!
