Rooted In Ignorance
And on and on and on we keep going…
All are created with ignorance And as we grow we shed some of them as we do old skin We hardly notice the shedding Or the new skin that develops in its place All are rooted in ignorance It starts out as innocence Innocence that gets betrayed Innocence that gets taken advantage of And some learn by imitating the same Does ignorance get shed then? Not at all It gets clothed away in layers as one dresses up when exposed to frigid cold And on and on they keep on going As if they were rowing themselves in a boat Rowing away without looking Where they were going Just towards the horizon it seems Yet the shore lies but just around the bend And can be reached if one is looking for it But on and on and on they keeping going As if the journey is for a lifetime There’s not one or two or even ten years For many of us even most And yet where we all need to go Is where life takes us to follow Where the clothing of ignorance Can be shed and the glow of actual skin within Can be exposed in the sun Gleaming Shining Living Being Loving And finally… Knowing
