You and I
We are one half of something 
One half of a relationship 
Of love and marriage 
On half of a friendship
That is new or old

One half of a soul 
That is split between two
One half of a teaching 
That has missed a beat 

One half of something
That is larger than life 
One half of the truth
That makes us who we are 

So then who is the other half?
The other half of the thing 
That we are made up of
Is life itself that is in us

Some call it soul
Some call it God
Some call it the universe 
Or Mother Earth 

But I call it the immense presence 
The consciousness 
That this world is made up of 
That is in the sky
 
The earth 
The moon and the stars 
The rivers the streams 
The mountain tops 

The ponds the lakes
The animals and the birds 
That befriend us and show gratitude
And love for us all

You and I we make up one half 
of the essence 
of the immense presence 
that is all around us

You know when I call
I don’t have to knock 
I know when you even think of me
Sometimes 

And it’s fun to check and find out if it’s true 
That you and I we make up this world 
It’s our inheritance 
It’s our life on this earth 

You and I make up only one half
And to complete us 
We need to the merge with the other half 
Merge with truth 

Life
God
the immense presence 
that is all around us
And makes us humans 

Let’s remember that 
Remember the privilege 
The gift that we possess 
And indulge in humanity 
Instead of observing from the sidelines 

Let’s observe 
present 
and commit to this world 
And makes us humans 

So our other half then
Will be proud of us
Shall we ?
Let’s try!
