Loyalty
What y new kitty taught me
Loyalty
I’ve fed her only for a week
Three days of which she didn’t even eat
And yet she lies at my feet
At night watching me
Keeping guard over me
As if that’s her job and responsibility
If there is something called loyalty
Watch a kitten move in with you and bond
Every time I put my feet down
While she lies underneath the bed
She gets up and comes to brush my legs
With her soft fur and allow me to pet
And when I put my hands on her
And talk to her soothingly
She closes her eyes slowly and rests
Safely within my arms as if going to sleep
But when she hears sounds even from far
Her ears pick them up all at once
And she’s alert once more
Ready to pounce on who threatens
Or jump and run to her safe spot
Under the bed
My sweet little kitty
She’s only 8 months old I think
And yet she’s ready to play catch the prey
Slowly holding herself back
Waiting to pounce and hold the feathers
Of the toy we hang before her as if it’s a bird
She waits before she pounces
She knows it’s not a real bird
Yet she plays as if it’s really real
And shows us her talents and skills
My sweet little baby kitten
She’s taught me what loyalty means!

I love this ❤️ Kitties are really the best 😻
“And yet she lies at my feet”
look at her, already clocked in for night-shift security~ no paperwork, no trial period, just pure “you’re mine now.” soft, watchful, and completely serious about it. kittens don’t mess around with loyalty.
