How To Be Unafraid

By Arming Yourself With Truth and Love

As I stood guard at the entrance 
I saw fear in his eyes 
As he recoiled his arms 
That flew out to hit me in my face 

And I 
I stood unafraid 
And faced the Goliath 
With nothing 
But courage 

Love can do that 

Are you afraid of somebody 
Or something 
Go deep into your mind 
Ask yourself why
What has the enemy portrayed 
That made sure
You cowered in fear 

Is the portrayal real
Or is it rehearsed acting 
To keep you tied up
Imprisoned 
In anxiety 
Unnecessarily 

Think 
What do you have at your disposal 
To be bold once again 
As you were 
Before you encountered 
These madmen

Do you have the truth 
Are you armed with truth 
Truth is like the shield you wear 
Armor 

Are you armed with love?
Love is like the spear in your hand 
Which can be used to protect 

Not a gun 
That renders one incapacitated 

But a spear 
That can be inserted 
Into the side of the stomach
Causing a deep wound
Which stops the war
But can still be healed 
Without causing the victim much harm 

Use love as your spear 
Not to kill 
But to stop the advancement 
And protect your lot

Use love as your spear
And truth as your shield 

But know this much 
When you have truth 
And love with you
There’s no need for anything else 

Because 
as long as you have truth with you
The God of all ages
Who is infinite 
Will walk beside you 
Who is infinitesimal

And he will guard you 
He will make sure 
Your enemy
Doesn’t have power enough to
To overpower you 

Beyond what you can take 
And give in return 
Enough to win the war 
In truth and love
And that’s all that you need

If you have the truth 
As your shield 
And love as your spear 
You can walk unafraid 
Because the God of all ages
Will walk beside you
