It all adds up To make you who you are To make you Who you were meant to be Let’s start with honesty This you were taught in childhood That you have to be truthful in your words That you cannot lie, cheat or steal That kinda sums up honesty Royally Then comes authenticity This was a new word to me Fairly recently I had to look it up to see What it really meant Turns out It meant being true to yourself Your inner person Also known as Soul Living in a way that reflects who you are internally If you don’t like to dress up Don’t dress up If you do like to show off Show Off then Simple isn’t it? Just be true to yourself Whatever that means to you Your calling! Finally there’s integrity This I came across when I went to work Initially I didn’t understand it fully then I had to be taught about it I used to watch other people Emulate them And play Tetris at work After I had finished what was assigned to me I was ignored at first You know just a fresher Fresh out of college But then I had a project manager Who sat me down And explained to me Very gently And kindly Why my attitude matters In the grand realm of things For me I understood It was 1999 perhaps But it stuck to me It stayed with me Every thought Every action that I took Was with sincerity Irrespective of whether anybody was watching me It brought me immense peace Immense strength Because I enjoyed being a person Of integrity I didn’t care what others thought about me My focus was always only truth A life worthy of living well All my choices in life Took me along a path That was far from the maddening crowd But gave me courage Because I was choosing wisdom Over wealth And I earned bang for buck Because my investments paid off My children went to college And kept their strength One paved in truth Honesty Responsibility Integrity Authenticity Truth I am ready to retire now In peace And good health No diabetes Stress Nothing! The teacher came in time In the form of that project manager And taught me wisdom In my early years Effectively Honesty, authenticity and integrity Can steer you clear And keep you in peace Your life?
