Betrayal is one word
But it kills
It plunges like a spear does
And leaves you aghast
Shattered
Bone marrow exposed 
Bleeding

When you trust somebody
It doesn’t matter who it is
Friend, neighbor, spouse even
An act of betrayal 
leaves you dead in the waters 

You are left wondering
What?
How?
Why?
What did I do?
How could this happen?
How did I not see it coming?

But then you go back 
And look closer
Every brick was already in place
To make a memorial 
Of your relationship 

Only you didn’t notice 
Because you believed 
Because you didn’t want to doubt
Because you wanted the other person 
To behave as decently as you did

But alas!
He was not raised up in similar fashion 
He was raised up to lie, cheat and deceive 
You saw glimpses of it 
Wherever you turned 

You knew this was in the works 
You just didn’t know it was going to come already 
You assumed it wouldn’t 
Because you gave it your last

You assumed he would see through you like glass
But alas!
You failed to realize 
That he is equipped only to see through the mirror 

And wherever he turns 
He only sees his own reflection 
This had to happen 
So you would know what matters

How to steer what you have with you
Until it reaches ascension 
Where it needs to rest

Betrayal is good for you 
It teaches you a thing or two 
It shows you the truths in this world
And lets you take it all in
And survive 

It lets you use itself 
As a stepping stone for success
All betrayals are good
They are here to bring out the best in you 

Go betrayed girl!
Ascend!
Tomorrow will be yours alone

Heaven sees 
Heaven knows 
Heaven is yours
